Surgical Selective

The David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA offers a two-week Emergency Medicine selective experience as part of the required Surgery Clerkship. Currently offered at two sites, the selective provides MS3 students exposure to the specialty with an emphasis on surgical and potentially surgical patients. The experience includes the evaluation and management of abdominal pain and other cardinal emergency presentations as well as practice in performing basic emergency procedures such as suturing, abscess incision and drainage, and fracture management.
